Dan considers himself blessed to be the husband of his high school sweetheart, Kelly, and the father of their children, Megan and Joshua.
He has also received some recognition within the financial planning profession. In 2002, Financial Advisor magazine dubbed him a "Future Star" and Worth magazine named him one of the 250 best advisors in America. He was named among the profession's most influential practitioners as one of Financial Planning magazine's 2003 "Movers & Shakers." In 2006 and 2007, he appeared on lists of the most influential people in financial planning for both Investment Advisor magazine and Accounting Today along side such notables as Christopher Cox, chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission and Ben Bernanke, chairman of the Federal Reserve. In 2007, he served as national Chairman of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), the membership organization for the financial planning community.
Moisand is an active writer and is the only two-time winner of the Journal of Financial Planning's national Call for Papers Competition. His writings can also be found in publications such as Financial Advisor, Financial Planning, Investment Advisor, Solutions, Advising Boomers, Florida Today, and Wealth Manager.
Known for an entertaining yet thoughtful way of sharing his wisdom, he is frequently quoted by most publications catering to financial advisors and his thoughts have been used by consumer media like Business Week, ABCNews.com, CBS Market Watch, Forbes, USA Today, Time Magazine and the Wall Street Journal, among others. His straightforward but friendly and uninhibited style has garnered invitations to speak to planner and consumer groups on five continents.
After a successful stint as co-leader of a delegation of financial planners to Russia in 2008, Moisand was tapped by the Financial Planning Association to lead a similar trip to China in 2011.
Dan holds a bachelor of science degree in Finance from Florida State University.
